implementation and style guide

by jessica-b

Working with dreamweaver and getting my site up and working took a lot more work than I expected.

I really hope that I can learn more about getting a website up and running but I think it will take a lot more work. I think it was really good to learn to learn  how to make a style guide. Now i can design a site and know what to tell a person when they need to code the site.

What I have finished so far on my site is on my site at  www.jessicabutlerdesign.com .

A. 02 Mockup and Composition

by James

If I would have mocked up my site more, It would have turned out nice. Instead the most important thing is figuring out space and value on the page. Both are lost. Hope this helps you see again what I mean.

A. 02 Imagery

by James

A bit of catch up on my 5th grade site. That was a disaster/nightmare but for what it is worth I did spend a lot of time coming up with some of the graphics.

Here are a few pieces of work.

I hope that settles it.

Implementation

by Matthew Lawrence

This harder than it looks.

Do I believe this is finished? No. Not in the slimmest chance. Do I believe that in order to get any further on this site is to make this post. I feel that the site is lacking not theme, but in design. In building the site I found that keeping it as basic as possible was the best way to communicate the information to a fifth grader. I admit that I am limited in knowledge and if I understood more this may look much different. If anyone has any advice for the site than just let me know.

wire frame

by Kasaundra

This would be what the portfolio page looks like.

site-wire-frame

The left side bar would be where mini pics of portfolio pieces are, along with a short description. The big area on the right would be where a large picture of a portfolio piece would be shown (when a small pic is clicked on). Then underneath it would be information about that portfolio piece. The header would have my logo on the right side, and all the navigation on the right side.

Portfolio Site Map

by Kasaundra

There are three things that are most important for my personal portfolio website: My portfolio, a blog, and information about myself.

my site map

My portfolio section would include pictures of designs I’ve made, and some would have detailed descriptions. Like sketches, the process of how I got to the end product, and written descriptions. The “about me” section would include information about myself, as well as some way to contact me.

Images?

by Matthew Lawrence

This is one of thise things that I have changed over and over and over again.

I found that doing the standard chart graphic on the homepage just was not working out and did not work all that well. So I changed the theme and this the graphics completely.  I decided to go with submarines. I know that sounds odd, but I like it. The imagery will hopefully give the feel of being a member of a sub crew and that will carry through as the theme.  I kind of did this backwards in the sense that I set up the photoshop comp before I finished collecting my images.

Typography

by Matthew Lawrence

And I thought this would be easy.

I thought that I understood how type worked, but as I come to someone actively participating on a website I realize that making it work is another story. I think separating all navigation, and titles from all other body copy will help the reader distinguish what is what on the site. Therefore all body will stay in sans-serif and all nav and titles will be presented in Georgia or a serif font.

by Matthew Lawrence

The hope is, as I have said on other posts, to make this as easy as possible to navigate and get to the information a reader is looking for.  My hope is to present the information in such a way that it will be visual interesting and entertiaining for a 5th grader to look at and read.  Most of these ideas are targeted to accessibility, but a few others I decided to be a liitle bit more visually entertaining.  I have toyed with the idea of using a submarine motet for a bit and a of these go in to that idea a little.  I am sorry that the sketches are not any better.5th-grade-thumbnails

Site Structure – 5th Grade site

by Matthew Lawrence

I wanted the site to clear, simple, and concise. The viewer needs to be able to quickly a easily access and assimilate the information provided. Hopefully this graphic explains things for you.5th-Grade-site-map
