My style guide is on the DVD that was turned with the printed Style Guide.
Art 337 | objectives | At the conclusion of this course, a student should feel comfortable participating in the process of web design. They should be able to:
- think about and organize information interactively
- design simple standards based sites that are effective, usable, functional, and accessible
- design well beyond their ability to program and clearly document the desired functionality so that it could be produced
Individual pages
As I began to design my live site I found that many of my designs were not functional on the web. I learned that my page had to accommodate for scrolling better. Also, at one point I did have a homepage mock-up but in the process of trying to come up with a more scrolling friendly site. I saved a blank page version of my homepage.
I started the imagery for my site over the summer break. I new I would be building a personal web page and need photographs of my work. I decided that I would use a black background. That seemed to work the best with my work.

I then started creating my logo based upon sketches I had done, which can be seen in my previous post.

I used Clarendon Light for the logo. I also wanted to have an icon aspect to my logo simply for functionality on places that I could not fit my entire name.
Other imagery was not necessary because I did not want to detract from the content on my site.
As I started sketching I focused heavily on concept.
I realized that I did not want people to focus on my site but wanted them to focus on my work and portfolio. My website needed to be a vessel that beautifully displayed something else.
These sketches became more focused on functionality. The next sketches are when I really got it nailed down, page by page. I also started establishing what my logo would look like.

What a time this was…
This is the the second time that I have design lawrencefolio.com and I think that thisw is the better of the two. No it is not finished and I will be moving it over fully in to WordPress as soon as possible, but for now this it is a start. Any thought or crit that you would like to make to the site would be great! let me know and check often to see the changes and improvments.

These are a few of the ideas I had for lawrencefolio along the way.
Research for this was interesting,
I enjoyed looking at other sites and seeing how they worked. One of the best ways i found for researching this was not only looking at other sites, but also see what how others are accomplishing their own sites. I have also found that see what other designers are trying to fix and what kinds of things they are posting about online. I also have looked in to other books such as Don’t make me Think a book on basic web usability.
This is a master wire-frame that is design to cover jst about all of the pages
