Explore

Explore the environment in which you live. It can be interior or exterior. Create an alphabet with the objects that you find. Twigs, rocks, and kitchen utensils are some examples of possibilities.

Experiment

Work with the elements you find to create the most interesting solution.

Preliminary photograph

Photograph the objects.

Final Photograph

Photograph the complete alphabet

Design within the format

Final Print

Design the final print. The placement and size of the letters are design decisions that you make.

Presentation

Design the wall as a class.

Bring a well crafted 11 × 17 color print, flush mounted on foam core with the completed alphabet (26 letters). Hang it on the wall at the beginning of class.

Learning Summary

Write a learning summary with a beginning middle and end. Post it on the class blog

Post format

Title the blog entry “A.01 | Found Alphabet.” Your user name will automatically be posted below the title. Then write an introductory paragraph that includes the project requirements and an introduction to your project. The first paragraph will automatically be in a larger font like the one you are reading now.

A caption about your new alphabet.

A caption about your new alphabet. Notice that if you click on the image it is linked to a larger version.

Resize your image to 1000 pixels wide and 1545 pixels tall. Place an image in the upper right of the second paragraph like the example you are reading. When importing the image select thumbnail, align left. The thumbnail image will reduce the image to 200 pixels wide but when you click on the image it will enlarge to the full size of 1000 pixels wide. The line around the outside is a style defined by the blog.

The middle paragraph should cover how the alphabet meets the requirements that you were given. It should present the project in the best light and be a brief sales pitch. Make statements and answer questions so that a non-designer can understand what you are saying. Never apologize for you work in a presentation.

In conclusion sum up the strengths of the project and how you achieved the required objectives. If you have a hard time with this paragraph start it with, “In conclusion…”

Learning Summary

Place the subhead, as you see above, as a divider between the written presentation and the learning summary.

The learning summary should include challenges and successes in the creation process. Once again, have a beginning, middle, and end. Good luck! If you have questions about the assignment please post them in the comments section and I will try to respond as soon as possible.
