When fisrt taking pictures of my pet I was under the impression that I had to use all of the items that I was given. So for my first week favorite picture I used all four wheels. I had in mind more of the story concept rather than the composistion and I tried to think of how to use the wheels the way a little child would use them. My stomach however, got the better of me and I thought of making the wheels look like cookies. I like this picture because of the story line, I stuffed cotton to make it look like the creamy white filling.
The second edition of pictures I still had in mind the use of a story. I did, however, play a little more with idea of composition when photographing my opbject. I meant for the wheels to be following the feet of my roommate like a mother duck. The picture turned out great. The shadows of the wheels give a dramatic contrast to the photo. The way the wheels are lined and the upward direction of the legs lead your eye into an actual car wheel repeating the circular shape of the wheel. From a Compositional point, this was my best photo from week 2.
Week 3 I felt more confident when photographing my pet. I also felt alot more freedom with my object. I now relized that I didn’t have to use all four wheels and the package it came in. For this photo I used the just the plastic bad that the wheels were in. I stuffed the bag with grass and leaves, and then took a shot looking inside the bag. I love the contrast of the dark building in the background with the shiny bag in the forground. The color of the green grass captures my attention and the direction of the grass leads to the main object as well as the object in the background.
I love this picture from week 4 . I was able to capture a very detailed wheel in the forground while having blurry wheels in the the back. The detail of the tire that the wheels are sitting on can be seen very well. There is a sense of direction that can be seen from the grooves in the tire and the percpective of the 3 wheels in a row. I like the Idea of a few wheels sitting on one giant wheel.
I tried using the plastic bag a little more for this round of photos so I had a cd on my desk and I used the reflection of the plastic bag in the cd and took a close up. I love the colors and the texture that this picture has. I had to get the lighting just right to make the rainbow effect and still get a clear picture of the bag.
This week I decided to experiment with the camera and motion. I had a lot of fun and thought wheels move, why not capture something in motion. This one photo was the best, I had.
This week I decided to experiment a lot. My roommate is a photography major and she showed me an unusual technique. She took paper that was not exposed to any light and we placed the objects on the piece of paper. Next we exposed a light to the page for a certain amount of time. We removed the objects and then situated them again on the page and exposed it to light a second time. The effect was great, you can see a lot of different values throughout the picture. I loved creating these photos and there effects are awesome.
