Is this what you were thinking Brother Franson?
My booklet.
Pages 1-2 is the first spread of my book. I just started with the one photo and started adding layer after layer for each page. Pages 7-8 is about the middle of my book. There are some interesting shapes starting to take place. I noticed there was an old man that appeared in the upper right corner of pg. 7. He is just a tad bit creepy! How do I eliminate the hard edges of the layered pictures without cropping the picture really small? Is the blur tool the thing to use? Pages 14-15 is the last spread in my book. It didn’t turn out completely black, but I thought there were some interesting elements introduced.

My first week photographing my pet it was hard to think of how I wanted to do it because I didn’t even know what it was. I thought to start off by experimenting with light and depth. I really liked this one because it not only got the depth but contrast of colors as well.
Week two was a bit more interesting. Since we weren’t able to meet in groups and discuss the first weeks results, I decided to continue playing with light and depth. This is my favorite photo out of the ten taken that week.
Week three I wanted to play with lighting one more time. This time I tried shooting earlier in the day so that I was able to have brighter light. This was the best one I got out of that batch.
Who knew that the alphabet is everywhere around you? I didn’t until I was assigned this project and encouraged to actually look around me and see what I could create. It’s amazing what one can find when they really look.
I wanted to use something that everyone could relate to, or makes them happy and what makes one happy on a hot summer day? Ice cream, right? And we have all known our alphabet since we were kids and can remember listing off the 26 letters to our parents.
Well, I have taken something that is well liked and well known, and put a chocolaty twist on it. I have created the alphabet using vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup.
I first had the idea of using just chocolate syrup to show the alphabet. I used wax paper and basically drew the letters on it. The problem with this was, I was able to manipulate the letters how I wanted to.
I wanted to create a project where even though I directed the letters into their proper form, it would take a shape and life of it’s own. I decided to explore a little, so I went home, got some ice cream and went to work on designing an edible piece of art.
Learning Summary
While working on this project I learned a lot of new things. I never realized that letters are everywhere. We grow up learning and using the letters of the alphabet for many, many things, but I never thought that you could find those letters in everyday items.
I really enjoyed being challenged to be able to pull off this project. Overall I think the ending result of my project turned out better than I anticipated it would. I was able to create it in a way that most are not used to seeing.
