My overall theme will be centered around the question
“Can a man live alone?”
I will propose the idea that men cannot live only by himself, or herself.
Our relationship with other human being started from the creation of men, when Eve was given to Adam.
I will do research on:
1. quantitative
- how many people do we come in contact through our life
- how many do we count as real intimate
- some relationships or comparison of number in different environment (country, city, etc.)
- etc.
2. qualitative
- facts of man being alone, how it effects….baby test that I heard somewhere long time ago…maybe
- your personality build by who you contact (possibly get some surveys)
- any psychology fact that I can find
The objective of this theme is to help people realize that men cannot be alone, in another words; they cannot be selfish. And let them realize the significance of who you are connected to, and be thankful, or be aware. and hopefully make them want to become better when they realize how they as individuals can affect others.
The research can be presented visually through posters… that’s the first boring idea that I have, but I’m hoping to have some other idea to bring more interest, more application to the viewers.

This week I set up appointment to meet with several professors next week.
They come from the biology, psychology and sociology departments. I also spent some time going through different types of addictions and their triggers.

It is a topic, researched and understood, that then results in a graphic design application. | It is a documented experiment with an unknown outcome, that then results in a graphic design application.
BFA is not application. It is not: “I want to do an identity for a company and all of the collateral materials.” It is not: “I don’t have a web site (or any other application) in my portfolio so I wanted to do one for my project.” It is not posters, logos, books, editorial, motion graphics, brochures, billboards, advertisements, or any other application you can think of.
Topic Comes First
Choose a topic, research it, ponder it, form opinions about it, talk about it, write about it, and defend your conclusions. Then choose an application that illuminates the information you now understand.
As tempting as it is, I would recommend that the topic is not reverse engineered to meet a predetermined application.
The “process” is the point of the BFA experience while the application is a by product.
Ponder and Prove
Spend some time thinking about this information before the first day of class. For some reason it is a difficult concept to understand. Be prepared to answer the question, “What is a BFA project?”
